FishRanked is a data-driven tool that helps fishkeepers discover compatible species for their aquarium. No more guessing, no more forum arguments — just structured data about what works together and what doesn't.

How We Calculate Compatibility

Our compatibility engine checks seven factors when evaluating whether two species can coexist:

• Temperament match — peaceful, semi-aggressive, and aggressive fish have different needs
• Size ratio — a fish 3x larger than another may see it as food
• Water parameters — temperature and pH ranges must overlap
• Fin nipping risk — certain species target long-finned tankmates
• Territorial behavior — two territorial bottom-dwellers will fight
• Swimming level — fish at the same level compete for space
• Diet conflicts — predator + prey-sized fish = bad combination

Data Sources

Species data is compiled from FishBase (the global fish database with 33,000+ species), cross-referenced with established aquarist knowledge on compatibility, temperament, and care requirements.
